Health Insurance

If you want to study in Germany then you need to have a valid health insurance. Without it, you cannot be admitted into any educational institute or university. So, as soon as you arrive, you should apply for your health insurance. You are advised to insure yourself until you are 30 years old, or until your study terms. If you are not in possession of health insurance you could be expelled out from university. Many Student hostels for international students offers health insurance besides accommodation and meals.

In Germany, you will see there are two kinds of health insurance, compulsory/public and private insurance. So basically, up until you are thirty years old or until your terms of study, you must be in the possession of health insurance. Private health insurance is allowed to international students only in exceptional cases. In most of cases the public health insurance is more reasonable in price than private health insurance.
